Ian Otieno produced a heroic performance, leading 10-man Richards Bay to a dramatic 5-4 Carling Knockout quarter-final victory in penalties.
Since joining Richards Bay from Zambia’s Zesco United in July, he has frequently looked to the South African international as a "benchmark" for goalkeepers across the region.
"Ronwen is a benchmark for keepers in SA, and watching him play has given me a lot of motivation," Otieno told Sowetan Live.
"He’s someone who shows me what it takes to be a leader at the back and a key player for his team. It’s that level of consistency and quality I’m working towards here at Richards Bay."

"We will play with all our hearts, all our energy. This is a final push before the FIFA break. We've been traveling a lot, so we are going to give our best shot," Otieno said.
“This is not just about reaching the final. It’s about building a legacy with this club, and each game is an opportunity to grow and learn. My goal is to set the standard for myself and to play with the same passion and discipline that Ronwen brings. It’s motivating to know that if I keep pushing myself, I can achieve similar heights.”
