The Italian is the European champion in both 10,000m and 5,000m and wants to bag gold in her specialties again in Antalya.

European 10,000m champion Nadia Battocletti believes her victory at the Alcobendas Cross Country on November 24 is part of her preparations for the European cross country championships scheduled for December 8 in Turkey.

The Italian, who doubles up as the 5,000m champion, cruised to victory in Spain, running home unopposed in 7:18.

The 10,000m Paris Olympics silver medalist added that she would like to medal in Antalya during the 30th edition of the annual championships and winning there is a priority for the 24-year-old whose burgeoning career is setting the world alight.

“I would like to medal there," she told World Athletics. "Honestly, I love the Alcobendas circuit; it’s so tough but at the same time a perfect dress-rehearsal for the Europeans which are usually held two weeks later,” she added.

At 24, she has won 11 national titles at the senior level. She won the gold medal for the 5,000m at the 2021 European U23 Championships. Battocletti earned four individual gold medals in the U20 and U23 age groups at the European Cross Country Championships.

She is the Italian record holder for the indoor 3000m and 5km road race. As a 17-year-old, Battocletti won the bronze medal in the 3000m at the 2017 European U20 Championships and two years later, she earned silver for the 5000m.
