Asbel Kiprop displayed exceptional resilience at the Machakos Teachers' College on a challenging, dusty course to claim victory in the senior men's 10km race, clocking an impressive 32:11.2.
Kiprop put up a spirited fight going toe-to-toe with Francis Abong’ who eventually took second place.
Despite his win, Kiprop admitted that he did not expect to finish first.

The Machakos Cross-country was the first in Athletics Kenya's (AK) calendar of events for 2024/25 and part of the roadmap leading to Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championship.
In the senior women’s 10km event, Beatrice Chepkoech dominated, clocking 36:22.9 to clinch victory.
Christine Njoki was not far behind, finishing second in 36:32.22, with Esther Chemtai taking third in 37:13.7.
In the juniors' category, Silas Senchura and Yvonne Chepchirchir stood out. as Senchura narrowly won the men’s 8km, clocking 25:27.42, while Simon Maywa with a time of 25:32.70 and Clinton Ngetich on 25:38.04 finished second and third, respectively.
Chepchirchir dominated the junior women’s 6km race, finishing in 21:40.02, ahead of Lorna Cherono with a time of 21:50.7 and Florence Chepkoech on 21:57.7, who took second and third places, respectively.
