Can Gabby Thomas end the gold dominance of Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jakson at the Paris Olympic Games?
World silver medallist Gabby Thomas has revealed her plans to stop the Jamaican dominance of Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson at the Paris Olympic Games.
Thomas, who has been playing second fiddle to the Jamaican duo at major championships in the 200m event, revealed she has been preparing to challenge for the gold medal and etch her name in the history books.
"I really want a gold medal, and I know what that's going to take," the Harvard graduate revealed in a post-race interview with Cydon Bowen, after winning the 300m event at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Bowen.
"So I didn't even go on a vacation, I didn't do all the partying, I'm just like I need to rest my soul, get my mind right, and get ready for the year," she said.
Who is Gabby Thomas?
Thomas is one of the USA's biggest track stars, having won a medal at every global championship she has attended.
At her first Olympic Games in Tokyo, the 27-year-old claimed the 200m bronze medal behind Thompson-Herah and was part of the silver medal-winning 4x100m relay squad.
Then at the World Championships in Budapest last year, she upgraded her medal to silver behind Jackson and was vital in Team USA blazing to the 4x100m gold medal anchored by Sha'Carri Richardson.

Shericka Jackson storms to 200m Championship Record to become two-time World Champion
Shericka Jackson ran a blazing 21.41s to win her second consecutive 200m world title at the World Championships in Budapest.
Gabby Thomas possibilities of upsetting Thompson-Herah and Jackson in Paris
Her lifetime best of 21.60s is the fourth fastest in history, just behind the late Florence Griffith-Joyner's World Record of 21.34s, Jackson's 21.41s, and Thompson-Herah's 21.53s.
However, gunning to cause one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history won't be a walk in the park, as Thompson-Herah is chasing a legacy of her own by becoming the first female track and field athlete in history to do a three-peat of gold medals at three consecutive Olympic Games, while Jackson will be chasing her first Olympic title.
Notwithstanding, if anyone can challenge the Jamaicans for that gold medal, she is a top name on the list.
