Olympic champion Gabb Thomas on why she never uses weigh-reducing drug ozempic.

Ozempic is an anti-diabetic medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and an anti-obesity medication used for long-term weight management.

The Paris Olympic 200m champion told Yahoo.com that she gets pissed off especially when girls use the weight-losing drug. She said instead her focus is on the food that helps build her body,

“No shade, but the girls on Ozempics are really starting to piss me off,” Gabby Thomas teased. “You mean to tell me, I’m fighting the physical urge to run over to Dairy Queen and get a Blizzard. Meanwhile, they’re not even thinking about food? I think about food all day.”

Thomas, who managed bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, said she one time tried to use ozempics but could not be allowed .

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti-Ozmempics. I, too, tried to be on the Ozempics. I filled out a form and everything and they said, ‘Gabby, no.’ So now I’m a hater. I am, in fact, a hater…unless you can get me on the Ozempics,”  Thomas reiterated.

The medication — taken weekly by injection in the thigh, stomach or arms - is a brand name for semaglutide, which works in the brain to impact satiety.

The drug has gained popularity in and out of Hollywood over the last few years as many people turn to it for weight loss, even when not medically necessary.

Born in Georgia and raised in Massachusetts, Thomas competed in college for Harvard University before beginning a professional track career in 2018. Thomas also has a master of public health degree in epidemiology.

Thomas won three gold medals; individually in the 200m, and alongside her teammates in the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay, in which they ran an American record and the second-fastest time ever.

Thomas had signed up for the inaugural season of the Michael Johnson founded Grand Slam Track in November 2024 and is set to b part of the 48 female runners during the April leg in Kingston, Jamaica.
