The Kenyan has lauded her two counterparts and expressed her love towards them and noted that they are her good friends.

Newly-crowned world 5000m bronze medallist Beatrice Chebet is in awe of her competitors Faith Kipyegon and Sifan Hassan for their incredible race tactics that saw them finish first and second in the 5000m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Chebet also ran a tactical race but could only afford a third-place finish in 14:54.33 as Kipyegon reigned supreme to cut the tape in 14:53.88 while the Dutchwoman took silver after clocking 14:54.11.

The Kenyan has lauded her two counterparts and expressed her love towards them and noted that they are her good friends.

“I am happy to run with Faith and Sifan and they are good friends of mine. At the London Diamond League, I was with Sifan and I’m sure she is happy to see me on the podium.

"She has also encouraged me to run at the Olympics and also win a medal. Sifan is a lady who is extraordinary…she ran from 1500m to a marathon…which motivates me.

"Faith also encourages me to run well and note that anything is possible. I love you guys,” a shy Chebet confessed during a post-race press conference.

The 23-year-old added that competing in Budapest was a great experience since it was fun hearing the fans cheering her on and the atmosphere there was also awesome.

“The atmosphere was good and it took me a short time to adapt to this environment. The cheering squad also did a great job which motivated me to keep pushing on,” she said.
