Jamaican sprinter Oblique Seville has expressed disappointment following his eighth place finish in the 100m final at the Paris Olympics, despite entering with high hopes.
Jamaican speedster Oblique Seville was certainly disappointed with his performance at the Paris Olympic Games after failing to live up to expectations.
Competing in the men’s 100m semifinal, Oblique Seville could only afford an eighth-place finish in a time of 9.91 seconds and the 23-year-old struggled to process that performance.
Seville had just come from a commanding win in the semifinal, where he handed triple world champion Noah Lyles his second defeat of the season after beating the American at the Racers Grand Prix.

Noah Lyles has explained why he lost to Oblique Seville at the Racers Grand Prix but vowed never to let it happen again on a global stage like the Olympics or World Championships.
Speaking in an interview with Sports Max TV, Oblique Seville noted that he was confident in medaling after being so unfortunate in several of his races at the World Championships where he always finished fourth. He expressed regret to have failed to show up fully but added that there will always be a next time.
“I’m very disappointed, knowing that I could have run better but I can’t really complain because the same mindset that I went with to the semifinal is what I embraced in the final and it is just unfortunate that I could not leave with an individual medal, it is heartbreaking for me,” Oblique Seville said.
“I knew that I could have medalled in this race but unfortunately, I’ve failed myself and couldn’t push further. I don’t think I need to work on anything it’s just that I’m unfortunate at this stage which is the highest in track and field, the Olympics,” he added.

In the race, Kishane Thompson won silver, finishing closely behind Noah Lyles who claimed his maiden Olympic title. Kishane Thompson was also competing in his first major championship after struggling with injuries that ruled him out of several global events.
Oblique Seville admitted that watching Thompson win the silver was a motivating factor, showing him that his time to shine would will come.
“I can take something positive from this because my Jamaican teammate Kishane came and delivered and I have to learn from that,” he revealed.
