British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith could not hide her excitement after it was revealed that her next race will be in Jamaica.
Asher-Smith has great love for Jamaica which she considers a second home of some sorts. Her mother Julie was born in London and her dad Winston was born in Jamaica but moved to England when he was a child.
The 2019 world 200m champion therefore has Jamaican and Trinidadian ancestry.

The former world champion made a bold decision to ditch the spotlight in Britain for a low-profile stint in the US and the move is already paying off in her career and personal life.
“I’ll just be here watching TV and then I am like I am racing in Jamaica soon. I literally screamed when I saw it om my schedule,” Asher-Smith posted on Instagram.
“But I have to remain calm. I will let loose my next level of excitement when I board the plane.”
Asher-Smith said she is already planning her trip to Jamaica meticulously because she has wanted to run in the country for a long time.

British sprinter Dina Asher-Smith has expressed her excitement at meeting Kenyan greats Faith Kipyegon and Eliud Kipchoge whom she is looking up to this season.
“I have already planned the nails I am going to get and the outfits I want to wear when I take pics with the statues outside the National Stadium. I am a fan okay,” she added.
“I can’t even begin to express how I’m excited to be running in Jamaica for my next race. I have wanted to do this for so long. I feel like I can begin to get really excited about it because it is now officially next up. I can’t wait.”
Asher-Smith had a poor 2023 season when she finished seventh in the 200m and eighth in 100m at the World Championships which informed her decision to make a life-changing move to Texas, USA to prepare for the 2024 Olympics six months ago.
