Albert Korir celebrated his fourth New York City Marathon podium, finishing third in 2024 and expressing joy for competing on his favourite course.

Albert Korir has expressed immense joy following his podium finish at the 2024 edition of the New York City Marathon.

The Kenyan distance sensation finished an impressive third once again, stopping the clock in 2:08:00 behind Abdi Nageeye and Evans Chebet who finished first and second in respective times of 2:07:39 and 2:07:45.

This marks Korir’s fourth podium finish in the streets of New York as he also finished second in 2019 and claimed top honours in 2021. During the 2023 edition of the event, Albert Korir finished an impressive second and this year, he finished third.

Albert Korir finished seventh in the edition of the event in 2022 where he was unwell during the race. He went to the competition then with the hope of defending his title.

In a lengthy post on his Instagram handle, Albert Korir expressed excitement to have once again completed the race and finished among the top runners. He pointed out that the streets of the ‘Big Apple’ remain special.

Albert Korir also gave an analysis of his race, noting that he wanted to maintain his momentum and take things easy on his side instead of fighting for the top prize with Nageeye and Chebet who seemed to have planned their races well.

“Super happy and grateful for another podium finish in New York! 🥉🧡🗽It was another enjoyable one, running with Abdi, Tola, Evans and Kamworor. How I love racing New York. It is never the same race, but how I enjoy the course and its challenges,” he shared.

“I ran my own race, I dropped in time to keep enough towards the end. I grinded those hills and it gave me more energy seeing the guys in front of me dropping. Thank you @nycmarathon @nyrr @s.grotewold. It has been fantastic.”

This season, Albert Korir started his New York City Marathon campaign at the Boston Marathon where he finished fifth before heading back to training in readiness for the challenge.
