The 400m hurdles world record holder is always known to keep her plans on the low and then strike the world with her exhilarating performances on days when it matters. As usual, she will be out to dominate any event she decides to focus on.
In 2023, she stunned the world and decided to focus on the 400m flat after having an injury but it was not a busy season for her as she raced sparingly and was forced to miss the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone returned to her main event, the 400m hurdles this season and has been very impressive, breaking her world record twice and winning the Olympic title before anchoring the American 4x400m women’s relay team to a gold medal.
She has signed with the Grand Slam Track League but it has yet to be confirmed the events that she will participate in but she has the option to contest the 200m/400m group or 400m/400m hurdles group.
“Honestly, I don’t know, I don’t even know. Mondo is already back in training, and I should, but honestly, I can’t even tell you. The main thing is always staying healthy; for my team, it’s taking it one step at a time and making sure we are doing what we need to do and making some decisions as we go. That’s something we have always been doing and I’m excited to keep going,” Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone said after being crowned the World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year.
The American hurdling sensation has broken her world record six times in her career and this year also presented the opportunity for her to lower her time. She first broke the world record in June 2021, clocking 51.90 seconds to cross the finish line.
She then shattered that time, clocking 51.46 seconds in August 2021 before further clocking 51.41 in June 2022. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone then broke her own record in July 2022, clocking 50.68 seconds before her impressive form this season that saw her shatter the record once again, clocking 50.65 seconds in June 2024 before clocking 50.37 seconds at the Paris Olympic Games.
"You can't ever beat the first time...Just that first moment of realizing my childhood dreams come true,” she said, revealing that her first time breaking the world record remains her favourite moment.
