The 28-year-old, heading to her first day of practice after the Olympics seatback, has explained how she is finding it difficult to bounce back after failing to achieve her dreams at the Olympic Games.

American hurdler Alaysha Johnson has struggled to come to terms with her performance at the Paris Olympic Games.

Johnson had great hopes of impressing on the global stage but faded to a seventh-place finish in the final of the women’s 100m hurdles. Masai Russell claimed the win in the race, clocking a stunning 12.33 to win her first-ever global title.

Frenchwoman Cyréna Samba-Mayela finished second, clocking 12.34 as defending champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn completed the podium in a time of 12.36.

Johnson started her campaign with a second-place finish behind Tobi Amusan in the first round before winning the semifinal, setting herself up for a great run in the final but unfortunately failed to build up on her semifinal exploits.

“On my way to my first practice since…and I cried all day in the bed about it. Nobody ever tells you how hard it is to pick yourself back up once your dreams don’t come true 😔,” the American said.

The 28-year-old opened her outdoor season with a ninth-place finish at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen. She clocked 13.01 to cross the finish line.

She proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Suzhou where she improved to finish fifth in a time of 12.78. Johnson hoped to improve on her performance at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha but was disqualified.

Her spirits were lifted as she went ahead to compete at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix where she finished second and finished fifth at the Prefontaine Classic. Before heading to the U.S. Olympic trials, she raced at the USATF New York City Grand Prix and finished second.

She sealed her ticket to the Paris Olympic Games after finishing second behind Russell at the trials. Before the Olympic Games, she finished seventh at the 2024 Ed Murphey Classic.
