Reflecting on her Olympic experience, Almayew shared her initial hopes and the lessons learned from her debut.
"This year, at the Olympics, I was thinking I could finish in the top three, but that day was not my day, I could not achieve a medal," she said via World Athletics.
Despite finishing fifth in the steeplechase final at the Paris Games, the young talent remained upbeat about her accomplishments.
"To already be at the Olympics at my age, I am very happy. To finish top five looks good for me at this age."
Looking ahead, Almayew is determined to build on her success and aims to secure a podium finish in the 2025 season.
"This year, I am going to try to at least get medals, or to win," she affirmed with a clear sense of purpose.
Her aspirations are fueled by the inspiration she draws from Olympic champions Sifan Hassan and Faith Kipyegon, both of whom bagged gold at the Paris Games.
Almayew’s admiration for these legends is evident, as she expressed her joy at meeting Hassan and having the opportunity to engage with her hero.
“I am very happy to have met Sifan here and be talking to her,” said Almayew, adding that both Hassan and three-time Olympic 1500m gold medallist Kipyegon serve as powerful role models and key sources of motivation.
Reflecting on her journey, Almayew expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has had thus far.
