By building on the global buzz generated by her Olympic triumph, Saint Lucia Tourism Authority are experiencing massive gains from their partnership with golden girl Julien Alfred.
Since her historic triumph in Paris, Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred has become a beacon of possibilities for Saint Lucia as the Island's visibility has improved massively and now a must visit destination.
With several honours and rewards in her name, one of which was being named her country's Tourism Ambassador, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) are counting their wins as she has brought not just more visibility but her role has elevated Saint Lucia's marketing drive in the United Kingdom (UK).
Alfred began her tourism ambassadorial duties gracefully with a visit to some illustrious landmarks in London and the World Travel Market in early November highlighting the island’s charm to a global audience.
The SLTA has now revealed that her visit ignited some positive influence on the island’s visibility in key markets like the UK.
By building on the global buzz generated by her Olympic triumph—which saw Saint Lucia become the second most searched country on Google following her victory, the SLTA strategically leveraged Alfred’s visit to boost awareness of the Caribbean island’s offerings.
"Julien’s endorsement has significantly enhanced our winter marketing drive in the UK, a critical period as travelers seek sunny destinations," an SLTA representative noted in an exclusive interview with Sportsmax.TV.

Julien Alfred: Reviewing historic 2024 season exploits of Saint Lucia's golden girl
Saint Lucia's golden girl Julien Alfred had one of the greatest rookie year in history after sweeping all titles available in the 2024 season.
"Her role as a proud St Lucian resonates with audiences and helps position our island as a must-visit destination."
During her visitation, Alfred explored some of London's iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, and The London Eye, before performing her ambassadorial duties of promoting Saint Lucia's beauty.
She also engaged with media and travel industry stakeholders, elevating the island’s profile. The impact was immediate with the SLTA reporting engagement figures that reached over 22 million people across platforms like Sky, the BBC, and national newspapers, as well as with travel journalists.
While it’s too early to analyze visitor arrival data, the SLTA views these numbers as a credible indicator of Alfred’s influence.
"Julien is a proud St Lucian, and her global success inspires pride across the island," added the SLTA. "Her role as Tourism Ambassador has already demonstrated the potential to elevate St Lucia in our key markets, and we are confident this partnership will continue to thrive."
With the 23-year-old star sprinter still fully focused on her athletics duties as she guns for another iconic 2025 season, it is expected the partnership with the SLTA will continue implementing a year-round push to highlight Saint Lucia’s vibrant tourism offerings and the Island's appeal will steadily continue to grow.
