Reigning Boston Marathon champion Hellen Obiri has extended the hot streak that saw her claim top honours at the 25th Running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K.

Ethiopia’s Fotyen Tesfay, who was Obiri’s closest challenger, finished second in 31:38. Obiri has been in the form of her life since the season started and she has just proven that she is not stopping anytime soon.

This year has yielded many good fortunes including winning her first-ever marathon since she debuted at last year’s New York City Marathon. She also successfully managed to relocate her family to Boulder, Colorado.

She has managed to maintain her prowess in all her races so far this season, finishing second in only one competition, the Mastercard New York Mini 10K.

USA’s Keira D’Amato completed the podium after clocking 31:58. Other Kenyans in the race included Vicoty Chepngeno and Edna Kiplagat who finished fourth and fifth in respective times of 31:59 and 32:23.

In the men’s race, Ethiopia’s Addisu Yihune lived up to expectations, being a pre-race favourite took top honours in 27:56.

USA’s Conner Mantz and another Ethiopian, Muktar Edris took the second and third places in respective times of 27:58 and 28:06. Edwin Kurgat was the only Kenyan in the race and he managed a fourth-place finish in 28:15.
