Australian sprint teen star Gout Gout will be running in Europe for the first time this year and he has announced when and where he will do that.

Australian wonderkid Gout Gout has moved on quickly from last weekend’s loss after making a major announcement regarding his career on Monday.

Gout Gout made his senior debut in Melbourne last weekend but it did not go according to plan as he was on the losing side at the Maurie Plant Meet.

The teen sprint sensation came home second in 200m, when he clocked 20.30 seconds, as fellow Australian Lachlan Kennedy stormed to victory in a personal best 20.26 seconds.

Now, just a few days after that setback, Gout Gout has revealed that he will be running in Europe for the first time at the European Circuit at the Ostrava Golden Spike on June 24.

“Hey guys, this is Gout Gout from Australia. I want to announce that I will be running in Ostrava in June. It will be my first European race ever. I will run the 200m, I will see you guys there,” the young sprinter said via video posted on social media.

His announcement adds spice to the event which will likely have some big names participating and given his growing popularity around the world, organizers can expect a full house in the Czech city.

The 17-year-old has been untouchable at junior level where he has numerous records, the most recent one being the 200m national record with a time of 20.04 seconds, surpassing the previous mark held by Peter Norman for 56 years.

He also became the fastest 16-year-old in history over that distance, surpassing the previous record held by Usain Bolt, who ran 20.13 seconds at the same age.

Gout Gout, who has earned comparisons with Usain Bolt, also ran 100m in 10.04 seconds and a personal best time of 10.29s to win the U18 Boys 100m at the Queensland Athletics Championships in Brisbane in March 2024.
