The Louisiana State University (LSU) sophomore student was recognised by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association based on his outstanding performances and achievements this season.

At the NCAA Outdoor Championships a week ago, Brume anchored his team to 4x100m gold in a fast time of 38.05s. The team clocked seven top-10 times on this season’s collegiate performance list and five on the all-time collegiate performance list.

The Nigerian also won a silver medal in the 100m in a time of 9.90s - third-fastest time in all-time Nigerian list, seventh in African history, seventh in NCAA history, and ranks second in LSU history behind Olympian Richard “Torpedo” Thompson (9.89). Thompson won this same regional award during the 2008 outdoor season.

Entering this season, Brume had a legal Personal Best (PB) of 10.12s, so he shaved 0.22 seconds off for his new PB. This honor accompanies his two First Team All-American nods, two First Team All-SEC honors, two SEC titles (4×100, 100), and two SEC weekly honors from this outdoor season.

The honour is his first in his young college career, and he is the third LSU athlete in a row to earn this distinction.
