She is among the celebrities expected to race at the Chicago marathon this Sunday, having swapped the limelight for the grueling world of the marathon.

The 2016 Rio Olympics tennis champion Monica Puig has revealed the advice she was given by Eliud Kipchoge before setting on her mission to complete both the 2023 Boston and London marathons.

The Puerto Rican, who is the first athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics in the history of her country, is one of the five celebrities you may not know were marathon runners.

Puig is among the celebrities expected to race at the Chicago marathon this Sunday, having swapped the limelight for the grueling world of the marathon.

She reminisces that she sat down with the double Olympic champion Kipchoge to talk through her race strategy before embarking upon not one but two marathons in the space of one-week, last year.

"We talked a little bit about running and he gave advice, and for me, it was such a cool moment to meet him. He is, in my opinion, the greatest athlete in the world at anything. He's like the GOAT of the GOATs," she said as revealed by Olympics.com.

Having taken on the advice of Kipchoge, "Just run hard and you'll be done in two hours!" Puig accomplished her mission by finishing both races.

The 31-year-old is now chasing her dream of running all six Marathon Majors having truly caught the running bug after a stellar caree in Tennis.

The marathon is known as one of the most demanding races in the world even as a field of about 50,000 runners, which includes a smattering of stars expected to grace the Chicago marathon.
