22-year-old Edinah Jebitok will be vying to replicate her 2021 performance when she returns to the cross-country in Spain.
Chepkurui dominated the whole as she was leading from gun to tape, taking turns with her Kenyan compatriots to lead the group. At the home straight, it was all clear that the win was Chepkurui’s and she surely did not disappoint.
Ruth Chepng’etich was also in the race to fight for top honours but could only afford a fourth-place finish at the event.
Chepng’etich has enjoyed a great 2023 season, finishing in the podium bracket in almost all her races. She finished second at the Chicago Marathon a few months ago when Sifan Hassan shone in her second marathon.
In the men’s race, Kimeli was in a class of his own as he destroyed his opponents to clinch the title in 1:03:39.
