Gabby Thomas has disclosed the wise words from Allyson Felix that propelled her to the women’s 200m victory at the Paris Olympic Games.

Thomas was no fluke as she clocked a stunning 21.83 to cross the finish line ahead of St Lucia’s Julien Alfred who came in second, clocking 22.08. Brittany Brown completed the podium in a time of 22.20 seconds.

Following her victory, Thomas revealed that Felix gave her the morale to go and conquer before she even travelled to Paris.

The world 200m bronze medallist has always looked up to Felix, an accomplished 200m and 400m runner, and words of encouragement from her were what she needed to hear before the Games.

"I remember her telling me before I even left for Paris, 'You know how to do this. You've done it for years. Go out and have fun and show the world what you have been working on.' That's what I needed to hear,” Thomas said as quoted by Sports Keeda.

After her Paris Olympics heroics, Thomas gained praise from fans worldwide, and her education accolades also stood out. She was vital for Team USA winning gold in the women's 4x100m and the 4x400m relay races.

Her educational accolades include a Bachelor’s degree from the prestigious Harvard University where she studied neurobiology. She also pursued a minor in global health and health policy and a citation in French.
