Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas recently revealed that she does not like watching herself on screen ahead of the premier of Netflix docuseries SPRINT which she stars in.

In a candid revelation, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Thomas shared her mixed feelings about her starring role in the new Netflix docuseries SPRINT.

Despite her unease with watching herself, Thomas remains enthusiastic about the project’s potential to shine a much-deserved spotlight on the world of track and field.

SPRINT is a two-part series that delves into the lives of elite sprinters, offering fans an intimate view into the challenges and dedication of athletes on their way to the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Part 1, which premiered on July 2, introduced viewers to some of the world’s top sprinters as they navigated the road to the 2023 World Championships.

Part 2 arrives on November 13, capturing the athletes’ thrilling journeys as they pursue their dreams on the global stage.

Thomas described her motivation behind bringing the series to life, appearing on the Ali on the Run Show.

“So going into Sprint, I had watched Full Swing, Break Point, and Drive to Survive. I’ve seen these other sports get a bunch of attention, and I was like, ‘Track could really get that too.’ Track people are fun and really interesting," said Thomas.

She took the initiative, reaching out to Box to Box Films, the production team behind some of these successful docuseries, proposing they do the same for track and field.

As fate would have it, the team had already been planning a project in that vein, which led to Sprint.

According to Thomas, the series offers a rare look at what goes on behind the scenes, revealing the intense preparation and training these athletes undergo far beyond the Olympic stadium.

“A lot of people don’t know the structure of track and field. They just think we show up at the Olympics and that’s it,” she explained.

“What’s great about this documentary is that people get to see what we do when we’re not competing at the Olympics. They followed us through an off-season.”

The series will spotlight a star-studded lineup of sprinters, including Thomas, Noah Lyles, Fred Kerley, Kishane Thompson, Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, Melissa Jefferson, Twanisha Terry, Marcell Jacobs, Kenny Bednarek, Shericka Jackson, and Oblique Seville, among others.
