Multiple Olympics champion Gabby Thomas has opened up on the secrets to her success after an impressive 2024 campaign.

Olympics 200m champion Gabby Thomas feels denying herself some luxuries to prioritizing her career is the reason behind her success.

Thomas is still reveling in her impressive Olympics outing when she won three gold medals in 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays but she believes none of it would have been possible had she not made great sacrifices.

“Prioritizing resting, sleeping, sometimes you just have to say no to things when your friends want to hang out and it sucks sometimes but it is not worth it in the end,” she said.

“The biggest thing I would say is just make sure you enjoy what you are doing. It is never too late to pivot. I had some things that I wanted to do but I changed my mind so just make sure you love what you are doing.”

Thomas has suffered only one loss in 200m this season coming at the Los Angles Grand Prix in May but since then, she has not tasted defeat again.

She was dominant at the US Olympics trials at the end of June before she won the 200m race at the London Diamond League just before the Olympics.

In Paris, she ran a dominant race to floor 100m champion Julien Alfred, when she clocked 21.83 seconds, despite the race being billed as a battle between the two.

Thomas will not be at the Diamond League Final in Brussels this weekend but she is looking forward to a successful 2025 season where the World Championships in Tokyo is the main focus.
