Gabby Thomas produced a blistering performance at the London Diamond League, making her a top candidate to challenge world champion Shericka Jackson for the Olympic title in Paris.
US 200m champion Gabby Thomas continues to prove her mettle as a top challenger for the Olympic title in Paris after an impressive display of charging late past Julien Alfred at the London Diamond League.
Despite having a poor start, the American speedster battled hard to overtake Alfred in the final strides, claiming the 200m win in a blazing time of 21.82s.
Alfred settled for a new St. Lucian Record and lifetime best of 21.86s, and hometown hero Dina Asher-Smith was third in 22.07s.
With her brilliant display, Thomas is in pole position for the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as world champion Shericka Jackson is yet to regain her top form this season.
A delighted Thomas who owns the world lead at 21.78 said the race has renewed her hope for Paris 2024 Olympics.

Noah Lyles defeated a stacked field at the London Diamond League, clocking a new Personal Best and Meeting Record to strengthen his position as the one to beat in Paris.
"I feel really good. It’s made me feel confident going into the Paris Games after that one. All things considered, hopping off the plane and coming into this stadium with all these people was a really good race for me.
"This crowd is incredible, it’s got to be my favorite Diamond League – it’s just so fun. The crowd is incredible, the stadium is incredible and it’s so well run. I’m so happy to be here, this was a great experience," she said.
Meanwhile, Alfred isn't Alfred isn't putting any pressure on herself as she is set to make her Olympic debut in Paris.
"I don’t know what to think! I felt strong in the race. I’m going back to Monocco to train and then I’m off to Paris. I’d love to get a medal in both, but most importantly I just want to have fun. It’s my first Games so having fun is important,"
