Two-time Olympic medalist Fred Kerley is championing for athletes to earn better contracts from companies and sponsors so that they can earn good money to make them lead desirable lives upon retirement.
Speaking in a recent podcast shared on Justin Gatlin's X account, (formerly Twitter), he expressed need to hold a fruitful discussion regarding how athletes can make money in order not to suffer after upon exiting the stage.

Kerley said athletes are what makes the sport and need to be the biggest beneficiaries in any case. "Us athletes is the sport. Until we athletes understand that we are the sport, and the people at the top really can't make no money without us, that's when this sport will grow."
