The former world champion went into the men’s 100m race hoping to win it but finished third in a time of 10.01 seconds. Jamaican wunderkind Ackeem Blake and Christian Coleman finished first and second in 9.93 seconds and 10.00 seconds.

The 22-year-old was impressive in his final race of the season, healing his Paris Olympics heartbreak with a triumph over Christian Coleman, Fred Kerley, Akani Simbine and other top sprinters.
Kerley had a poor execution at the start of the race, a move that cost him dearly.
“I would only be satisfied if I had won and today I didn’t win, unfortunately. But it has been a great season so I really can´t complain. I felt good throughout the season which is important. The fans today were good and for now, I will have some rest,” Kerley shared.
In the build-up to the Paris Olympic Games, Kerley competed at the Diamond League Meetings in Xiamen and Suzhou where he finished second and third. He then raced at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational Meet where he finished second in the 200m.
He finished second at the US Olympic trials in the men’s 100m to punch his ticket to the Paris Olympic Games. In Paris, he claimed a bronze medal in the men’s 100m. The American men’s 4x100m relay team was disqualified in the final of the race due to faulty baton exchanges.
After the Olympics, Kerley did not rest on his laurels as he finished third at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne before winning the men’s 100m in Silesia.
At the Diamond League Meeting in Rome, Kerley finished third before narrowly missing a podium place in Zurich with a fourth-place finish. He now shifts focus to the 200m at the Diamond League Meeting final where he has intentions of performing much better.
