Since the 26-year-old has been gaining a lot of traction in the recent past, Pulse Sports gives you a lowdown on what you probably did not know about him.
1) He was asthmatic
In an interview with Asafa Powell, Lyles disclosed that in his childhood, he spent most of his time in and out of the hospital due to his asthma.
“I was diagnosed with severe asthma very early on. I was constantly in the hospital being on breathing machines," he shared.
"They’re giving me steroids to make sure my lungs just work well, and that went from like two years old to about eight years old.
"So, we eventually left Gainesville. I had to have surgery; I got my tonsils pulled and my adenoids removed as well.”
2) He was not confident growing up
When you think of Lyles at the moment, you tend to think he was confident since he was a child but he disclosed that it was not the case.
Due to his asthma, Lyles recalled that he was never a confident child. He said: “I was not confident as a kid. I was born in Gainesville, Florida. I was diagnosed with severe asthma very early on.”
3) He formerly wanted to be an artist
Despite both of his parents being sports people, Lyles wanted to take a different career path. He was determined to be an artist and when his family moved to North Carolina, he joined an arts school.

4) He was a high jumper before becoming a track star
Lyles disclosed that when his parents got a divorce, he decided to venture into track and field because they relocated again.

“My parents got divorced and I moved with my mum to DC Area…that’s when track and field really took off," he said.
"I was a high jumper first and I was really good. I was known as the jump kid. I could control the high jump more but I did not just like it."

5) He is in a relationship
Sorry girls! Lyles is in a relationship with Jamaica’s Junelle Bromfield, also an athlete. Bromfield is a three-time Olympian and a bronze medallist in the 4x400m relay at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The two met in August 2022 and they celebrated their one-year anniversary recently.
