He explained that their main goal is to have camps in every county and equip them with all the needed equipment including certified coaches to ensure they are well trained. 'I don’t want to jump ship' - Ferdinand Omanyala on approaching 2025 season differently
Ferdinand Omanyala has revealed what he will be doing different in 2025.
After the athletes finish their high school, he explained that they will all move to Nairobi where they will now start gearing up for tough challenges and also start thinking about going professional.
“I will focus mainly on sprinters because I know we have tons of talent on this side. The plan is to have a camp I every region and also have a certified coach in every region and because this is home (Bungoma County), we can even have two camps. We want to take sprinters from all over,” Ferdinand Omanyala said.
“The plan is to start from Primary Schools and even when they progress to high school we shall be there, we shall be training them during every holiday. After high school, they will be entering the Omanyala foundation camp in Nairobi and it will be a pipeline to help a lot of people all together.”
The Kenyan sprint sensation has been a notable figure when it comes to being an inspiration to the next generation of sprinters, attending various tournaments and impacting the lives of the youngsters.
He also hosts a tennis tournament annually with the main focus to nurture talent and give the young an opportunity to interact with him as they explore their abilities.
Having the Omanyala Foundation is a great step in the right direction as it will see the rise of many sprinters in the country and debunk the claims that Africa cannot have many formidable short-distance runners.
