Ferdinand Omanyala will be competing in the men's 100m in Croatia, hunting for an impressive comeback as he goes up against a strong American cast.

Ferdinand Omanyala is looking for redemption as he lines up against a strong cast in the men’s 100m at the final World Athletics Continental Tour meeting, the Boris Hanzekovic Memorial in Zagreb, Croatia on Sunday night.

The Commonwealth Games champion has had a mixed season, failing to impress at the Paris Olympic Games and posting mixed results at the Diamond League Meeting series.

At the Meeting in Zagreb, the African record-holder looks to have a great bounce back as he goes up against a strong American cast including Courtney Lindsey, Brandon Hicklin and Kyree King. The trio will also be out to make an impact in Zagreb after missing individual spots at the Paris Olympic Games.

The 28-year-old had a great start to his season, finishing fourth in the men’s 60m at the World Indoor Championships before beginning his outdoor season. Omanyala finished fifth in the men’s 100m at the Kip Keino Classic before racing at the World Athletics Relays where Kenya finished fourth in the men’s 4x100m relay.

The Kenyan sprint sensation was flawless as he finished second behind Christian Coleman at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene. Omanyala then raced at the Racers Grand Prix where he rounded up the podium, finishing behind Oblique Seville and Noah Lyles.

He was not done with his great performance as he claimed the win at the Kenyan Olympic trials, clocking 9.79 seconds to win before reigning supreme at the FBK Games in Hengelo.

Omanyala then flopped at the Paris Olympic Games, being eliminated from the final after finishing eighth in the semifinal. He dipped under 10 seconds to win the Int. JOSKO Laufmeeting after his Olympic heartbreak.

Omanyala then finished second at the Diamond League Meeting in Silesia behind Fred Kerley before fading to seventh place at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome and miss out on a slot in the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.

In Croatia, he hopes to replicate his performance like last year, when he beat former Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs to win the race.
