The organisers have already announced the events to be contested over and on the men’s side, the men’s 100m is the only flat sprint announced, meaning the duo is highly likely to clash over the distance.

This will be the first time the duo clashes against each other this season, following a busy and long season for both African sprinters in 2025.

Letsile Tebogo is a formidable 200m runner, having achieved most accolades over the distance like winning the Olympic title, but it is unfair to rule him out in the 100m since he has always shown up when it mattered.

Last year alone, he competed in a series of 100m races where he attained podium finishes except for the Paris Olympic Games where he made the final but could only afford a sixth-place finish.

In the build-up to the Olympics, some of his notable performances include finishing second at the Gyulai István Memorial and the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix.

He also rounded up the podium at the Diamond League Meeting in London and after the Olympic Games, Letsile Tebogo maintained a winning streak, claiming top honours in the 100m at the Diamond League Meeting in Rome.

When he lines up against Ferdinand Omanyala for his first 100m race of the season, Letsile Tebogo will be out to change the narrative.

On his part, Ferdinand Omanyala is Africa’s fastest man and of course, he will be out to continue making waves and placing the continent on the world map.

He has already competed in a series of 100m races, starting his season with a win at the Thika Stadium before finishing third at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 1.

He then bounced back with a win at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 2 and then maintained the hot streak to the 3rd National Trials in Uganda.

His most recent performance was a second-place finish behind Akani Simbine at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix where he clocked a season-best time of 10.00 seconds.

As the countdown to the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen begins, the stage is set for a sprinting showdown — two titans, one track, and a battle that could shake the foundations of African athletics.

When Ferdinand Omanyala and Letsile Tebogo collide, only one will emerge as king of the straight.
