Ferdinand Omanyala drops to second in Diamond League Meeting standings after Xiamen showpiece

Omanyala has been to four Diamond League Meetings so far and his focus is now on the Meeting in Eugene, USA.

Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala has dropped to second in the men’s 100m standings after the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen.

Former World 100m champion Fred Kerley now leads the standings with 29 points while Omanyala is second with 28 points. South Africa’s Akani Simbine seals the top three bracket with 28 points too.

Kerley rose to the lead after finishing third at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen. Kerley clocked 9.96 to finish third behind Christian Coleman and Kishane Thompson who finished first and second in respective times of 9.83 and 9.85.

Kerley has been to four Diamond League Meetings so far this year. He opened his campaign at the Meeting in Rabat, Morocco with a win before also reigning supreme at the Meeting in Florence, Italy.

He also competed in Chorzow, Poland where he finished second and finished third at the just-concluded Meeting in Xiamen.

As for Omanyala, he has so far been to four Diamond League Meetings. Africa’s fastest man opened his campaign at the Diamond League Meeting in Rabat, Morocco with a third-place finish.

He then proceeded to the Meeting in Florence, Italy where he finished second before also finishing second at the Meeting in Paris, France.

He then made history by becoming the first Kenyan to win a Diamond League Meeting when he won in Monaco.
