Nigeria's rising sprint star Favour Ofili will line up against a loaded field that includes Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah.

Rising speedster Favour Ofili has a tough test in her next race when she faces two-time Olympic double-sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah at the New York Grand Prix on June 9.

The Nigerian speed sensation will be gunning for a top performance against the Jamaican track legend in the women's 100m event as she hopes to secure a Paris automatic qualification.

Favour Ofili won the 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medal, her first at a major championship

In her last attempt at the Edwin Moses Legends meet, the talented youngster fell short by clocking 11.2s for a fifth-place finish, and hopefully, a loaded field that also includes training partner Aleia Hobbs, US star sprinters Gabby Thomas and Morolake Akinosun can spur her into securing her spot in the event in Paris.

Meanwhile, Thompson-Herah will aim to have a flawless race after a disappointing performance in her season opener at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League, where she finished last behind winner Sha'Carri Richardson.

The world's fastest woman is in line to make history in Paris by becoming the first female athlete to complete a hat-trick of consecutive double sprint titles. She will target making a bold statement with her performance in New York, which can finally set her season and Olympic dream rolling.

Elaine Thompson-Herah is the reigning Olympic sprint champion and fastest woman alive

Ofili and Thompson-Herah last faced each other in the 200m final at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where the speed icon won the title as the Nigerian finished closely behind for the silver medal.
