Usain Bolt seemingly reacted to reports that he will receive part of the $13 million stolen from his SSL accounts, calling the news "fake" while questioning the company's intentions.

Multiple Olympic champion Usain Bolt has seemingly reacted to the widespread news that he will be receiving a huge share of the US $13 million that was stolen from his accounts at the Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL).

In an announcement, the stock company explained that they would refund over 200 people more than $30 million after more than a year of waiting for compensation. Caribbean Life explained that the state regulator, the Financial Services Commission (FSC), had requested the SSL to begin the payout, with Usain Bolt being among the beneficiaries.

“The commission assures all stakeholders that it is dedicated to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout this process and will provide further updates as necessary,” said Executive Director Keron Burrell in the statement.

“The FSC remains resolute in its mission to facilitate the fair treatment of SSL investors. This vigilant oversight is crucial to ensuring that SSL meets its obligations to clients in a timely and transparent manner, in alignment with the legal and regulatory framework established by the Securities Act.

“The commission assures all stakeholders that it is dedicated to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout this process and will provide further updates as necessary.

However, responding to the news on his X handle, Usain Bolt wrote: “Fake news.” He added another comment saying: “Time longer than rope… remember that.”

“They banking on the country youth love for his country... but ask yourself do they love their country or themselves🤷🏿‍♂️,” Usain Bolt added in another tweet on X.

Meanwhile, early last year, it was confirmed that the multiple world champion had lost more than $12.8 million. After the scam, Usain Bolt noted that he had made no withdrawals or transfers from the account. Following the proceedings, Jamaica’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) took over SSL.

According to CNN, Everton McFarlane, executive director at the FSC, noted that the fraud was allegedly committed by a client relationship manager at the company.

“To the knowledge of the FSC, this level of fraud has never happened before. Employee theft is a risk all businesses face and is a risk that businesses for the most part, and in particular financial institutions, take very seriously … This despicable act of dishonesty by an employee at SSL, and possibly with collaborators, we believe cannot be taken as symptomatic of the risk for the entire industry,” he shared.
