After her record-breaking spree, many people started questioning whether Faith Kipyegon was running clean but she has come out to clear the air.

Faith Kipyegon has had an amazing 2023 season that has seen her set three world records and lose only one race where she finished third.

She opened her track season with a world-leading time at the Diamond League Meeting in Doha, Qatar before embarking on her record-breaking spree. She started off by shattering the 1500m world record at the meeting in Florence, Italy before obliterating the 5000m world record in Paris, France.

However, her 5000m world record has since been shattered by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay who stunned her fans at the Prefontaine Classic.

The mother of one then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco where she destroyed the mile world record. She did not rest on her laurels as she secured a double at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Her first loss came at the World Road Running Championships where she finished third behind the Ethiopian duo of Diribe Welteji and Freweyni Hailu. Owing to her impeccable form this season, many have come out to claim that she should be tested for doping and Kipyegon has an answer for them.

Speaking on the Jeff Koinange Live show, Kipyegon said: “We are always tested every time…even right now I can be tested. Being tested is a must because we need to compete clean. We are tested out of competition and in competition and we have to comply.”

She added that she is very cautious about what she consumes and she cannot take anything from a stranger.

“It depends on what you put in your mouth as an athlete…you need to be cautious and avoid taking things from strangers,” she added.

She added that the Ministry of Sports has been very supportive and worked around the clock to ensure that they work with the Athletics Integrity Unit to bring back Kenya’s good name in the sport.

She also urged athletes to ensure that they keep their focus and run clean since shortcuts will not serve them for long.
