Faith Kipyegon hails Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for comeback inspiration after motherhood
Double world champion Faith Kipyegon credits Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for inspiring her successful track return after motherhood; both dominate post-maternity.
However, her 5000m world record has since been shattered by Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay who stunned her fans at the Prefontaine Classic.
The mother of one then proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco where she destroyed the mile world record. She did not rest on her laurels as she secured a double at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Her first loss came at the World Road Running Championships where she finished third behind the Ethiopian duo of Diribe Welteji and Freweyni Hailu. Owing to her impeccable form this season, many have come out to claim that she should be tested for doping and Kipyegon has an answer for them.
Speaking on the Jeff Koinange Live show, Kipyegon said: “We are always tested every time…even right now I can be tested. Being tested is a must because we need to compete clean. We are tested out of competition and in competition and we have to comply.”
She added that she is very cautious about what she consumes and she cannot take anything from a stranger.
“It depends on what you put in your mouth as an athlete…you need to be cautious and avoid taking things from strangers,” she added.
