Faith Kipyegon is the undisputed 1,500m GOAT but there is a possibility that fans may have seen the last of her over the distance as she is exploring a totally different race this year.
Faith Kipyegon has dominated the 1,500m and also taken up the 5,000m seamlessly but now, she has set her sights on the 10,000m.
Kipyegon, a three-time Olympics 1,500m champion, is also the world record holder over the distance after lowering her own mark at the Paris Diamond League last July, when she ran 3:49:04, a 0.07 improvement on her previous record.
She also has three world titles over the distance as well as one World Championships in 5,000m, a race in which she claimed an Olympics silver last year.

'I could have retired at 25 or 21'- Yohan Blake on the tempting offers that nearly forced him to ditch Jamaica
The Jamaican sprinter revealed that loyalty to Jamaica and financial responsibilities have kept him competing, despite opportunities to retire much earlier.
With such an impressive CV, many would be content and continue doing what they have been on but not the 31-year-old who feels now is the time to test herself in a longer distance.
"My 2024 season was amazing. Winning a third Olympic medal and a silver in the 5000m was a huge achievement. I faced some challenges, but I overcame them. Now, I'm excited about what this new season will bring," Kipyegon, who also won her fifth Diamond League title last year, told SportsBoom.
"It's tough running 1,500m, 5,000m, and then moving to 10,000m. But cross-country races help me build endurance for these distances. This might be the year I finally switch to 10k.”

Benson Omala: The contract nightmare keeping him away from Gor Mahia
Benson Omala is still in the dark where he will be playing next after recent release by Al Safa SC and Gor Mahia have clarified why they won't engage him for now.
Kipyegon is no stranger to longer distances as she is a past World Cross-Country champion and she is seeking to use that experience to help her navigate the challenges of 10,000m.
She was among the star attractions at the Sirikwa Classic Cross-Country in Eldoret but did not finish the race as the scorching conditions made it unbearable for her.
However, she credits the event for her best season, 2023, when she won two gold medals and broke three world records that year.

AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda explodes as Kasarani renovations force Mashemeji derby into uncertainty
Shikanda has proposed moving the Mashemeji Derby to Tanzania or Uganda due to the unavailability of a suitable venue in Kenya.
“I started my 2023 season with the Sirikwa Classic and it turned out to be a beautiful season. I hope for the best this year and, hopefully, a strong finish in 2025. Cross country helps balance both endurance and speed,” she added.
“It’s not easy, and that’s why I compete in cross country. When the cross-country distance changed from 8km to 10km, I was a bit nervous, but it was crucial for my buildup."
Kipyegon will open her season at the Xiamen Diamond League in April, when she will run the 1,000m, which will lay the foundations for the rest of her campaign and there are hopes that she will defend her 1,500m and 5,000m world titles in Tokyo, Japan in September.
