The fan insists Kipyegon gave him the gift “as a token of appreciation for the support over the years” after watching her run in person numerous times.

A super fan is over the moon after Kenyan track sensation Faith Kipyegon granted him her World Championships winning jersey.

James Guenther, who felt “blessed” in Budapest, Hungary according to his Facebook post as he uploaded a photo with Kipyegon, said he was just going to greet a few Kenyan friends he had been spending time with in city when Kipyegon herself opened the door to the room after he had knocked.

“After going to see the alpacas this morning I went up to greet a few Kenyan friends I’ve been spending time with… little did I know I would be surprised and Faith would be the one to open the door after knocking,” Guenther wrote on his Facebook post.

Guether insists Kipyegon gave him the jersey “as a token of appreciation for the support over the years” after watching her run in person numerous times.

“Super thankful and this is something I will never forget. She said it was a token of appreciation for the support over the years. I’ve seen her run in person at 5 world championships, 2 Olympics, countless diamond league meets, and other races over the past 10+ years.”

Kipyegon made history this year, breaking three world records and becoming the first woman to win gold medals at both the 1500 and 5000 in the same World Championships.

Her achievements have now made her widely regarded as one of the greatest 1,500m runners.

Kipyegon has revealed she wants to venture into marathon running and leave a legacy for girls who want to take up the sport in the future
