The four-time world champion will be making a rare public appearance at a conference in India to debunk common misconceptions about Kenyan distance running.

Legendary Kenyan steeplechaser Ezekiel Kemboi will be attending the sixth season of the Ekamra Sports Literature Festival (ESLF) at the Indian Habitat Centre in New Delhi on November 23, 2024.

The two-time Olympic champion (2004 & 2012) will be out to debunk common misconceptions about Kenyan distance running when he is given an opportunity to speak.

The main aim will be discussing renowned US producer and sportswriter Sarah Gearhart’s recently launched book, We Share the Sun: The Journey of Patrick Sang and Kenya’s Legendary Runners.

Ezekiel Kemboi is optimistic that it will be a great session as he went down memory lane on the enjoyable moments he has had during his previous visits to India.

“It is going to be a great experience in India talking about Patrick and others along with Sarah. I have had a successful time when I was in New Delhi the last time for the Commonwealth Games and enjoyed the hospitality a lot. I look forward to another wonderful trip, albeit of a different kind, this time around as well,” Ezekiel Kemboi said.

The Kenyan steeplechaser remains one of the greatest athletes who dominated the water and barrier race for ages. He is one of the few athletes who have won two Olympic medals in the distance and he also has four titles to his name from the World Championships.

He claimed top honours at the editions of the World Championships in 2009 (Berlin), 2011 (Daegu), 2013 (Moscow) and 2015 (Beijing). Kemboi also claimed three silver medals at the World Championships in Paris (2003), Helsinki (2005) and Osaka (2007).

At the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Ezekiel Kemboi picked up a silver and went on to finish among the top three finishers in five consecutive Games from 2002 Manchester to 2014 Glasgow.
