Former Olympic 100m champion Justin Gatlin has slammed the proposal to have the proposed Enhanced Games in December 2024.
The Enhanced Games is a planned international sports event where the athletes will not be subjected to drug testing originally proposed to take place in December 2024.
The event, announced in June 2023, is intended to be annual and to include track and field, swimming, weightlifting, gymnastics, and combat sports.

Justin Gatlin gives insightful advice to Noah Lyles as the American seeks to win four medals at the Olympic Games and a gold medal at the World Indoor Championships.
Gatlin, who had to serve a reduced eight-year ban from track and field events between 2006 and 2010, described the idea of using enhancements as “a taboo” to the sport, even mentioning about how he was shunned after testing positive for a testosterone substance which had allegedly been rubbed onto his buttocks without his knowledge.
“I think it is so weird because it is like for so long, it has been such a taboo topic and so many people have been shunned, myself included, in this situation,” Gatlin said on the Tidal League YouTube channel.
“It is a glorified event where you are going to take something that we hold precious as a sport and then now is going to be turned into a spectacle, because that is how it is going to be.”
Gatlin has accused those in support of having the games of being ignorant of athletes’ health status, saying they are the same fans who wish to see boxers getting knocked out and motor race drivers crashing.

The four-time world champion believes those who will take the enhancements will live a very short life given the side effects of using them.
“To each his own. They may be happy with that, They may be cool with sacrificing themselves to say. ‘I ran 8.7 seconds in the 100 meters, I am the fastest person on earth’ and then on their deathbed, they are on the ventilator because they sacrificed their health for it.”
