After a successful marathon debut at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, Evaline Chirchir has opened up on her next target.

After her dominant win at the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, Evaline Chirchir is not resting on her laurels as she eyes the World Marathon Majors next season.

Chirchir, just 25, has started building her marathon career and she is hopeful of maintaining the winning streak to the next assignments. She clocked an impressive Personal Best time of 2:24:31 to win the Stanchart Marathon on Sunday.

In a post-race interview, the Kenyan disclosed that she is now eyeing the London and Berlin Marathons as she looks to make a frequent appearance in the other major marathons.

“I am very happy to have won the race since this was my first time running in the full marathon. I used to run mostly in half marathons, 10km and 15km road races.

"I have now fully switched to the full marathon and I am anticipating to run in the Berlin and London Marathons,” she said.

The Keringet-based athlete also noted that she looks up to two-time Chicago Marathon and former World Champion Ruth Chepng’etich who has played a very vital role in her career.

Meanwhile, she added that Sunday’s race was a great one and she was happy with how it was organised.

“The race was very good…I got enough water to drink and I felt very comfortable running. I have competed here before and I was able to win the Half Marathon,” Chirchir said.

She also extended a hand of gratitude to her coach and pacemaker, whom she says have played a huge role in her success.
