American Olympian Kenny Bednarek is among the casualities of basic commodities shortage in American stores.

American Olympian Kenny Bednarek has voiced his frustration over a shortage of basic commodities in his city, Orlando, Florida.

The Olympic silver medalist took to his X page to lament the unavailability of essential food items, particularly eggs, a crucial part of his diet and nutrition plan as a professional athlete.

“Eggs are still out of stock at major supermarkets around Orlando, especially the Pasture-Raised Grade A ones I buy. Nearly impossible to find! How’s the situation where you are?” Bednarek wrote, seeking feedback from his followers about the situation in their areas.

According to ABC News, the shortage is a result of rising cases of avian influenza, commonly referred to as bird flu, which has significantly impacted egg-laying flocks across the United States.

Reports indicate that the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicts egg prices could rise by as much as 20% this year due to the supply constraints.

The Olympian appears to be among those affected by the shortage, which has also driven up prices.

One of his followers responded, highlighting the impact, stating, “Eggs here pushing $8/doz. And those aren’t even organic!”

Despite the grocery struggles, Bednarek remains focused on an exhilarating 2025 season following a mixed performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He finished seventh in the 100m final, where fellow American and rival Noah Lyles claimed gold, edging out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson, while Fred Kerley secured bronze.

However, Bednarek redeemed himself in the 200m final, claiming silver behind Botswana’s rising star Letsile Tebogo, while Lyles settled for third.

Looking ahead, Bednarek is preparing for a packed season. He is already signed up for the inaugural Grand Slam track series alongside competitors like Kerley.

Additionally, Bednarek has set his sights on Diamond League triumphs and the major 2025 Tokyo Athletics World Championships.

While the egg shortage remains a nuisance, Bednarek is determined to maintain his elite performance on the track as he gears up for another competitive year.
