'Give Ruth the respect she deserves!'- Athletics Kenya jumps to Ruth Chepng'etich's defense following doping accusation
Athletics Kenya has defended Ruth Chepng’etich after her record-breaking Chicago Marathon win, urging respect and dismissing doping accusations, emphasizing her consistent, hard-earned success.
By the time they head to the starting line, he explained that most of his competitors are always afraid and their confidence ruined and he usually capitalizes on that to attain wins in most of his races. Emmanuel Wanyonyi added that after dining his favourite meal, Ugali, he is always ready for the challenge.
“In the warm-up area, when I see others doing their final training, I always try to make them afraid by intensifying what I’m doing and they will automatically know that I’m in my best shape and probably become afraid instead,” Emmanuel Wanyonyi said.
“When they are doing their warm-up, they try to intimidate you and if you become afraid, you might withdraw from the race. However, if I have eaten my ugali and I’m okay, then I also show them my capabilities and always carry my flour to different meets,” he added.
The reigning Olympic champion added that his body always controls him and, on some days, he can control a race from gun to tape and other times, he always comes from the back and takes the win with a few meters to go.
This season, both tactics have worked well for Emmanuel Wanyonyi and he has managed to claim wins at the Paris Olympic Games, the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne, the Kenyan Olympic trials and the Diamond League Meeting final in Brussels.
The world 800m silver medallist also clocked the second-fastest time, tying with Wilson Kipketer after clocking 1:41.11 at the Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne.

Jamaican sprint legend Veronica Campbell-Brown agrees with Noah Lyles on the mentality athletes should possess
Campbell-Brown, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, has echoed Noah Lyles' sentiments on the mentality athletes who want to achieve their goals should have.
“You can start from the front and then the body refuses to cooperate…like at the Diamond League final, I started out from the front but my body was not moving because my rivals had started the race on a very high note. With 100m to go, I decided to push myself and I took the win,” he added.
