Wanyonyi, 18, had to dig deep for a second-place finish behind Arop at the just-concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

World 800m silver medallist Emmanuel Wanyonyi and World 800m champion Marco Arop will one more time lock horns at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen, China on Saturday, September 2.

Wanyonyi, 18, had to dig deep for a second-place finish behind Arop at the just-concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The two will now renew their new-found rivalry when they head to Xiamen for the 12th leg of the Diamond League Meeting.

Joining Wanyonyi will be compatriot Wycliffe Kinyamal, who has had a mixed season so far and will be looking right his wrongs and end the season on a high.

Kinyamal was in action at the World Championships, competing in the men’s 4x400m relays but he unfortunately failed to live up to the billing. In the 800m, he has had a pretty great season, finishing among the top three in most of his races.

He has so far been to four Diamond League Meetings, competing in the 800m and his last race was at the Meeting in Monaco where he set a world-leading time of 1:43.22.

Another one who will be going for top honours in the race will be France’s, Benjamin Robert. Robert has had a great season so far, with his Season Best at the moment standing at 1:43.48 and he will be looking to maintain the winning streak when he goes to China.

He, however, failed to make it to the final of the men’s 800m at the World Championships and will be looking for redemption.

The men’s 800m at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen will definitely promise to be a thrilling show.
