Kipchoge became the first human to run under two hours in the marathon when he clocked 1:59:40:2 to cross the finish line.
“I take most of my pride actually from the INEOS challenge when I broke the two-hour barrier…that is history. I have won two Olympic medals but the event will always be there and I will always cherish the medals.
"I have broken world marathon records twice…the records are broken every now and then. What I cherish and actually value more is making history and showing the world that every one of us doesn’t have limits and we should think outside the box,” he said.
The four-time Berlin Marathon champion reiterated that he believes any human can break the two-hour barrier if they believe in themselves.
He added that he took the INEOS Challenge to prove to the world that anything is possible despite going through ups and downs during the preparations for the feat.
“There was a debate that no one could ever break the two-hour barrier in the marathon but I believed I could. The preparations were tough because I was the only one aiming to break the barrier in the whole world.
