Eliud Kipchoge celebrates the launch of the '1:59 Limited Edition Isuzu D-Max', a tribute to his sub-two-hour marathon record.

On October 12, 2022, during the third anniversary of his historic Ineos 1:59 challenge, the world witnessed another remarkable milestone in Eliud Kipchoge's illustrious career.

In a grand event, Isuzu unveiled the ‘1:59 Special’ Limited Edition Isuzu D-Max, a vehicle model celebrating Kipchoge’s groundbreaking sub-two hour marathon achievement on the streets of Vienna.

Kipchoge, the first man ever to complete a marathon under two hours, clocked an awe-inspiring 1:59:40.

This achievement not only etched his name in the annals of sporting history but also led to this unique collaboration with Isuzu.

Reflecting on this, Kipchoge stated on his social media pages, "As we wrap up the year, I celebrate a major milestone with Isuzu Kenya, bringing the Eliud Kipchoge 159 Limited D-Max Edition to life."

The Isuzu D-Max '1:59 Special' is more than just a vehicle; it is a symbol of excellence and endurance, mirroring the qualities of Kipchoge himself, and it went into full production in 2023.

Limited to just 159 units, this exclusive vehicle is a collector's item, retailing at a premium price of Sh9 million.

This price point is a significant leap from the standard D-Max models, priced between Sh3.6 million and Sh5.6 million.

In a pats interview, Kevin Ochieng, the Marketing and New Markets Officer at Isuzu East Africa, shed light on the rationale behind the steep price.

"The limited edition D-Max comes with an array of new additions, tailor-made to celebrate Kipchoge and mirror his personality," he explained.

The truck boasts a unique desert orange color, exclusive to the Kipchoge edition, and features the Kenyan flag on its grills, matte black rims, and various logos, including Kipchoge's signature and the iconic 1:59 time.

The interior is equally impressive, with Kipchoge’s signature adorning the rocker door panels and the back of the center console.

The first vehicle, marked 'Kipchoge 001', sets the precedent for the subsequent serialized mats, creating a personalized touch for each owner.

Technologically, the vehicle is a marvel. It comes equipped with an Intelligent Driver Assist System, designed to synchronize the driving experience with the driver's actions.

Features like the Forward Collision Obstacle Alert, Misacceleration Mitigation, Adaptive Autocruise Control, lane assist, and an automatic adjustable headlamp system underscore the vehicle's innovative design and safety focus.

Eliud Kipchoge's association with Isuzu East Africa dates back to 2017. Over the years, they have celebrated his achievements by awarding him vehicles, such as after his world record marathon in 2018.
