The Diamond League Meeting in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday, August 30 promises to be a thrilling showdown since World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson and five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson will be clashing in the women’s 100m.

The clash will be one of the highlights since the two women will be meeting for the first time ever this season in the 100m. Thompson has only competed in three 100m races so far this season, making the Diamond League Meeting her fourth and first Meeting of the season.

Thompson, the double Olympic sprint champion and fastest woman alive in the event, will contest the individual event for the first time since finishing fifth at the National Championships in June.

She ran an excellent second leg in the preliminary round of the women’s 4x100m in Budapest, and after being left out for the final, will want to prove something here.

Richardson has had a great outing so far this season, losing only one race, at the Gyulai István Memorial - Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix where she finished second.

She has had a glamourous outing at the just-concluded World Championships where she won the 100m and led Team USA’s 4x100m relay team to victory.

The 23-year-old will definitely be looking to extend the winning streak and make a mark when she heads to Switzerland.

Richardson’s teammates Twanisha Terry and Tamara Clarke will also be in action along with Daryll Neita of Great Britain, Poland’s Ewa Swoboda, and Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland.
