Wiseman Were has opened up about plans to silence competitors at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after achieving his dream.

Wiseman Were is keen to shine in the 400m the hurdlers as he eyes a historic debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Kip Keino Classic champion noted that it is a dream come true for him as he eyes the feat, and he is ready to fly the country’s flag high.

Were also wants to leave a mark on the global stage, insisting that he has worked on all other aspects of his training and currently, it is just about working on finer things.

“I’m focusing on clearance of the hurdles and I’m okay in doing all those other things because we worked on them and I’m grateful to have everything working well for me,” Were said.

“I’m happy because it is a dream come true and for each and every athlete who intends to achieve their dream, I think they are happy. Not just because of going to the Olympics but leaving a mark on the global stage.”

The 26-year-old revealed that winning a medal at the Africa Senior Athletics Championships in the 4x400m men’s relay motivated him to go for the top prize at the Olympics.

However, he is not counting his chickens before the event with his main goal being to get to the final first.

“It gets me motivated because when I’m going to Paris, I will not go as a nobody but I’ll be known as a person who wants to give people a nightmare in the races. I believe we shall be able to push together and clock faster times,” he added.

“My aim is to run well and get to the final…getting through the preliminaries and semifinal is one of the difficult things but this year, I am ready and I know things will work well on my training.

“I wouldn’t say I have the pressure because when everything is set and the mood is right, I will definitely do well.”
