Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah has sought the services of a new coach after confirming that she parted ways with her tactician due to a financial dispute

Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah is the latest high-profile athlete to spilt with their coach after parting ways with Shanikie Osbourne due to a financial dispute.

Eight months before the Paris 2024 Olympics, five-time Olympic champion Thompson-Herah has split with her coach before she attempts to defend her sprint titles in the French capital.

According to her management team, the 31-year-old parted with Osbourne because of the "extremely excessive" terms sought by the coach.

"The package proposed by (Osbourne)...was extremely excessive and without any flexibility to negotiate by the other party," Thompson-Herah's management team said.

"Collectively, we had no choice but to seek the services of another coach.

"With the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, fast approaching, Mrs Thompson-Herah is fully focused on her preparations for the season and the defence of her Olympic titles."

The Jamaican won 100m, 200m and 4x100m gold at Tokyo 2020 after winning 100m and 200m gold at Rio 2016 Olympics.

She is the second-fastest woman in history over 100m with her 10.54 only battered by American Florence Griffith-Joyner, popularly known as Flo-Jo, who clocked 10.49 seconds in 1988.

Thompson-Herah dominated women's sprinting at the previous two Olympic Games but failed to qualify for this year's World Championships in Budapest following an injury-ravaged season.

In her absence, American Sha’Carri Richardson claimed the 100m gold in Budapest while fellow Jamaican Shericka Jackson won the 200m title.

The three are set for an epic battle at the Paris Olympics with Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce also set to be in the mix.
