Daniel Simiu has proven unbeatable after his dominant exploits that saw him win the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon.

Daniel Simiu has extended his winning streak to the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon where he destroyed a strong field to clinch the top prize.

The 28-year-old clocked 59:27 to cut the tape first ahead of compatriot Charles Matata who finished second in a Personal Best time of 1:00:05.

Debutant Addisu Gobena completed the podium after clocking 1:00:51 to cross the finish line.

Running with ambition, the World 10,000m silver medallist was in the leading pack from gun to tape and looked comfortable controlling the pace from time to time.

The Kenyan decided enough was enough with a few kilometers to the finish line and decided to part from the group. However, Dera Dida was still holding onto Simiu with the hope of proving a point too.

Running in only but his sixth Half Marathon, Simiu decided to unleash a finishing kick that left spectators in awe as he went ahead to cut the tape first and win the race.

Meanwhile, the women’s race saw Almaz Ayana take the glory, winning the race in a time of 1:07:59. Uganda’s Stella Chesang finished second in a time of 1:08:28 as Kenya’s Viola Chepngeno completed the podium in 1:09:09.

The women’s race was a bit different from the men since Ayana did not face opposition as she dominated the race from gun to tape.

Coming out of an injury plague, the Ethiopian displayed class as she controlled the pace until the finish line. Vivian Cheruiyot was also in the race but she missed out on the podium bracket.
