Daniel Ebenyo has experienced a roller coaster 2024 season but he is completing it with some good news after landing a major product endorsement deal.

World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Ebenyo has signed an endorsement deal after being unveiled as the brand ambassador for mobile phone brand itel.

Ebenyo expressed his delight after being named brand ambassador for the itel P65 with the brand hoping to leverage on his status and popularity to market and push the product in the market.

The 29-year-old made his marathon debut in Chicago this month, where he finished fifth, and is looking forward to more glory in 2025 after what has been a tough and frustrating 2024 campaign.

“Live in the future with itel P65. Every moment is a masterpiece with itel P65 by your side. Also check out the new charging cases which are now available,” Ebenyo posted on social media, promoting the qualities of the product.

Before the Chicago Marathon, Ebenyo had not finished outside the top three in all his races this season bar one, the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, which served as Kenya’s Olympics trials for 10,000m.

A combination of misfortunes conspired against him and he ultimately missed out on a chance to feature at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ebenyo arrived late in Eugene owing to a visa delay and also tripped and fell during the race, ending up eighth, when only the first two across the line earned direct tickets.

Those tickets went to Daniel Mateiko and Nicholas Kimeli and any hopes of Ebenyo earning the third and final one from the Athletics Kenya panel of selectors went up in smoke when Bernard Kibet, who was third in Eugene, was selected.

He was left to rue the missed opportunity, accusing Athletics Kenya of giving him false promises over a ticket to Paris and he sought to wipe off his tears with a good performance in Chicago. He will now be looking to right those wrongs at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.

Ebenyo joins a list of top Kenyan athletes who have become brand ambassadors for various products such as Eliud Kipchoge, Faith Kipyegon, Hellen Obiri, Ferdinand Omanyala among others.
