Nigerian shot put record holder Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has joined the elite of shot put throwers in the world already qualified for the World Championships in Budapest.
At the LA Grand Prix, Enekwechi threw a massive Season's Best (SB) of 21.69m to finish fifth in the event behind Ryan Crouser, who threw a jaw-dropping new World Record of 23.58m.
Enekwechi's distance automatically surpassed the World Championships qualifying mark of 21.50m, punching his ticket to the most prestigious track and field championship in the world.
At the same meet, African Record holder in the women's Discus event Chioma Onyekwere threw a distance of 59.63m to place fourth in the event.
