Coleman clocked a world-leading time of 9.83 to cross the finish line as Kishane Thompson finished second in a Personal Best time of 9.85.

Former World 100m champion Fred Kerley has once again been defeated at a Diamond League Meeting, this time in Xiamen, China.

During a pre-race press conference, Kerley had fired warning shots to his rivals noting that he would win the men’s 100m race but he has been forced to finish in third place yet again.

During the interview, he said: “We all came for one common goal...to win and only one person can win, that’s me…simple.”

He now heads back to the USA empty-handed after finishing behind compatriot Christian Coleman and Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson.

Coleman clocked a world-leading time of 9.83 to cross the finish line as the Jamaican finished second in a Personal Best time of 9.85. Kerley completed the podium in 9.96.

Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs was also in action and he managed a seventh-place finish in a Season Best time of 10.05.

Kerley failed to successfully defend his world title at the just-concluded World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. He was knocked out in the semifinal after finishing third.

He was heading to the Meeting in China with the hope of making a mark but unfortunately failed to live up to the billing.

His main focus at the moment is going to next year’s Paris Olympic Games with the hope of making a comeback as a champion.
