On June 17, 2020, Christian Coleman was suspended for missing a third drug test within 12 months, dating back to December 9, 2019.

It was announced in October of the same year that he had been banned until May 13, 2022, ruling him out of the 2020 Summer Olympics (held in 2021).

Christian Coleman vs Noah Lyles

Christian Coleman and Noah Lyles are two of the most dominant sprinters of their generation, underscored by their captivating and exciting rivalry.

Both athletes possess exceptional speed and have consistently produced world-class performances, underscored by Coleman holding the world record in the 60-metre dash, while Lyles has excelled in the 100 and 200 meters, recently notching gold at the Paris Olympic Games.

According to World Athletics, Coleman holds a 6-1 lead over Lyles in 60m events and a 7-5 advantage in the 100m but trails his countryman 5-0 in 200m events.

Christian Coleman vs Usain Bolt

Christian Coleman emerged as a formidable challenger to Usain Bolt's dominance in sprinting in the late 2010s.

While Bolt remains the undisputed track king, Coleman's speed and talent made him a worthy rival and potential successor to the Jamaican legend’s dominant standing.

The American and Bolt twice went head-to-head with Bolt, beating the Jamaican icon in the semi-final and final at the 2017 World Athletics Championship.

While Coleman pipped Bolt to win the semi, he had to make do with silver in the 100m final due to Gatlin's strong finish to a race Coleman led for the most part.

A 20-year-old Christian Coleman qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games, featuring in the semi-final heat won by the United States even if he was not part of the disqualified quartet in the final.

An 18-month ban for missing three drug tests in a 12-month span meant Coleman was absent from the Tokyo Games but he returned and competed in the 4x100m relay event at the Paris Olympics, having missed out on qualifying for the 100m

However, the United States were disqualified for passing the baton outside the takeover zone in the final.

The pair arrived at the US men's basketball gold medal match against hosts France and left together. Previous seeming shows of support and subtle romantic gestures point to them being a couple, despite neither confirming nor denying the non-stop rumours.

The sender was not divulged, but ensuing events have made observers conclude that it was Coleman.
